Gluten free brownies



Finally,recipes for gluten free brownies that are moist, chewy and full of rich chocolate flavour.

If I want a chocolate fix the first thing I bake is brownies with chocolate icing. A favourite recipe for years that I have made for my family is quick,easy and really yummy. Substituting some of the ingredients has made this recipe gluten free.

Gluten free Brownies

This is the recipe that I modified:

  • 1/2 cup organic cocoa
  • 1/2 cup organic butter
  • 1 1/2 cups organic sugar
  • 3 organic eggs
  • 3/4 cup gluten free flour mix(organic)
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 cup organic walnuts
  • 1 1/2 tsp. gluten free vanilla

    Preheat oven to 350F. Butter a shallow 9 inch square baking pan. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients mixing well. Spread in pan and bake for approximately 40 minutes. Do not overbake as they will dry out.I use organic baking products whenever possible.

    Gluten Free Baking Tips

    The best brownie recipes are moist so don't over bake them. Frost with chocolate buttercream or a traditional recipe using butter, icing sugar and milk.


    Fudge Brownies:
    • 1 cup water
    • 1 teaspoon GF vanilla
    • 1/2 cup corn margarine
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1/2 cup uncooked Cream of Rice hot cereal
    • 3 Tablespoon unsweetened cocoa
    • 1 teaspoon GF baking powder
    • 1 egg or 1/4 cup cholesterol free egg product
    • 1/4 cup walnuts (optional)

    In a medium saucepan, heat the water and margarine to a boil. Sprinkle in the cereal. Cook for 1 minute. Remove the pan from the heat, cover it, and let it sit for 4 minutes. Stir in the egg or egg product and vanilla. In a medium bowl, combine the sugar, cocoa, and baking powder. Stir in the cereal mixture until well blended. Stir in the nuts, if used. Spread the mixture evenly in a greased 8 x 8 x 2 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 40-50 minutes. Cool and cut into 2-inch squares (This recipe can be doubled and baked in a 9 x 13 inch pan.).
